During the past years, Rodrigo has focused his practice in the representation of domestic and foreign clients, as creditors or debtors, in various cross-border restructuring matters, out-of-court and in-court bankruptcy procedures (concurso mercantil), with or without a restructuring plan, including corporate, transactional, and financing matters.

Rodrigo has also represented clients in complex corporate restructurings and in matters related to corporate governance, investigations and compliance. He has mediated and negotiated several corporate conflicts (disputes between shareholders) as well as commercial conflicts in the representation of Mexican and foreign clients.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE AND REPRESENTATIVE MATTERS 

Represented clients in several M&A matters and complex corporate restructurings.

Represented financial institutions and corporate debtors with respect to the implementation of financings and the creation and implementation of complex collateral structures over assets located in Mexico and abroad.

Mediated and negotiated several corporate (shareholder disputes) and commercial disputes on behalf of Mexican and foreign clients.

Designed, planned, and coordinated pre-litigation and corporate trial strategies on behalf of Mexican corporations, and in connection with commercial disputes, shareholder disputes, minority rights and corporate governance matters.

Advised clients on financial and regulatory matters in connection with domestic and international insolvency and restructuring proceedings.

Represented foreign public and private companies in their association with Mexican and foreign investors.

Represented U.S ad-hoc debt holders’ committees in bankruptcy proceedings.

Represented the ad-hoc committee of foreign creditors in the restructuring of Satmex in 2011, including the issuance of a new note, and the merger and acquisition transaction implemented in 2013.

Advised on the analysis of financial, securities and regulatory matters with respect to cross-border restructuring matters of various companies, including Comerci, GEO and Homex.

Advised companies subject to bankruptcy proceedings, both in Mexico and in the United States, such as M&G México and Grupo Aeroméxico, among others.

Advised clients with the creation of hedge funds.

During 2016-2017 he worked as foreign associate in the New York office of Paul Hastings LLP.Represented clients in pro-bono activities.

EDUCATION

Rodrigo graduated from law school at Universidad Iberoamericana and has a master’s degree (LL.M.) from Pritzker School of Law and obtained a Certificate in Business Administration from Kellogg School of Management, both at Northwestern University. Also, he obtained a Specialization Degree in Commercial Law from the Universidad Panamericana and a Compliance Certification from Legal Ethics Compliance (LEC).
