Mario Enrique Rodríguez joined Sainz Abogados in 2022 as an Associate. He focuses his practice on energy law and international arbitration. He has seven years of experience working with clients in the natural gas, oil, coal and electricity sectors, regulatorily structuring multiple operations in all the different segments of these markets. He also has experience in bidding and project finance, as well as in international energy litigation and arbitration.


RELEVANT MATTERS

  • Participated in the negotiation and development of infrastructure contracts for the construction of combined cycle power plants in Mexico.
  • Prepared and participated in the negotiation of several natural gas supply contracts in Mexico, including the first ones to supply power plants located in Baja California Sur, comprising the development of its logistic infrastructure.
  • He has been a representative in international arbitrations in natural gas commercialization matters.
  • He directed the legal and regulatory advice for the oil and coal divisions of a hydrocarbons trader with national presence.

EDUCATION

  • Diploma in Energy Law, Escuela Libre de Derecho in collaboration with the Mexican Association of Energy Law (Mexico City, 2017).
  • Law Degree from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (Mexico City, 2018). Graduated with honors.

MEMBERSHIPS AND OTHER ACTIVITIES

  • HPrior to joining Sainz Abogados, he worked for over seven years in the Legal Direction of CFEnergía, and in the Federal Electricity Commission.
